  • And while I’m wallowing in nostalgia, not much can beat the mesmerising Poolside FM, retro disco, 80s desktop & tourist video mashup. (via @kicks)

  • Watching this Patrick Vieira video comp brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. Of all the Arsenal greats I miss, I miss him the most. ⚽️

  • Just accidentally deleted my entire iMessage history with my wife. There was no confirm dialog, one swipe was enough. Because I use iMessage in iCloud, there is no way to retrieve those messages from any other device, or restore from backup. Pretty poor user experience, Apple.

  • Kinder To Do Lists

Absolutely loved this piece by Beck Tench about the language we use in our To Do lists:

For those of us that use digital tools to manage our to do lists, it is especially important to consider how we use language in creating to do items. When items start with verbs (e.g. Use, Soak, Cook, Combine, Check, Cook, Eat), they become commands. This results in computers commanding us to do things. They control our time and our agency in subtle (and sometimes overt) ways.

  • The Cappella Palatina

The Capella Palatina in Palermo’s Royal Palace is one of the most amazing buildings I have ever been inside. It is entirely decorated with intricate gold mosaics, enveloping visitors in an ethereal glow.

It was commissioned by the Norman king Roger II and completed in the mid 12th century. The architectural styles are a fascinating blend of east meets west, a Christian nave with Arabic arches and a Byzantine dome. But really, it’s all about the mosaics.

You can read more about it on Wikipedia or just jump on a flight now and you’ll be there in time for lunch at Bisso Bistrot on the Quattro Canti.
